The project "Next Generation Flexible Trigeneration Geothermal ORC Plant" (nGEL), in which RePG Energy is a project partner with Zorlu Energy and supported under the European Union's Horizon Europe program, has officially started. As part of a strategic project that will last for 4 years, RePG aims to generate electricity from low-temperature geothermal sources below 110°C and to provide electricity, heating, and cooling in an integrated manner with high efficiency in the range of 110°C to 170°C. Thanks to this innovative technology, existing geothermal power plants can be transformed into flexible and efficient trigeneration systems. Once the project is completed, it is expected to supply 215 TWh of thermal energy across the EU, which could meet 4% of Europe’s annual heating needs, translating to an annual saving of 9.6 billion Euros. Additionally, together with our partners in Germany, we will begin installing systems that will generate electricity in homes heated with waste heat in the range of 70°C to 130°C by October 2024. We are proud to be part of this significant step that will contribute to Europe’s energy transition!
